Hundreds of Houstonians Participated in Berryhill Baja Grill “Margarita Madness”
HOUSTON – The Berryhill Original Silver Frozen Margarita has been named the number one margarita in Houston after beating seven competitors in a three week, margarita-versus-margarita bracket competition known as “Margarita Madness.” Hundreds of Houstonians participated in the inaugural season of “Margarita Madness” hosted by Berryhill Baja Grill.
Margarita Madness commenced on National Margarita Day (February 22) and customers received a bracket with any purchase at participating Berryhill Baja Grill locations through Wednesday, March 13. Round One ended on Wednesday, March 20, which cut the “Enjoyable Eight” to the Final Four:
- Berryhill Original Silver Frozen
- XX Margarita
- Strawberry Margarita
- Slim Rita
Each round, Berryhill Baja Grill management averaged the sales of margaritas from five Berryhill Baja Grill locations throughout Houston. The margarita with the highest average sales per week was advanced to the next round. There were seven perfect brackets; these participants were then entered to win Fish Tacos for a Year. Each participant with perfect brackets who did not win the Fish Tacos for a Year won one free fish taco. The Margarita Madness competition was heavily supported through the Berryhill Baja Grill Facebook page and in-store at the participating locations.
Berryhill Baja Grill CEO Jeff Anon knew that the race would be close between our staple, the Original Frozen Margarita, and the Strawberry Margarita. “These two margaritas have been great sellers for us not only during Margarita Madness but throughout the year. You could say they have always been the Number 1 and Number 2 seeds,” Anon explains.
Houstonians have taste tested and the numbers have spoken; the Berryhill Original Silver Frozen Margarita will enter the 2014 Margarita Madness as defending champion.
